'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' raked in more than $56.6 million its opening weekend, while 'Iron Man' continued its domination by fetching $31.2 million at the box office.
The Walt Disney flick, the second in a series of 'Narnia' books by C.S. LEWIS, easily took the number one weekend spot, according to studio estimates for the May 16-18 period.
It was another great weekend for the superhero blockbuster 'Iron Man,' which stars ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. as a billionaire industrialist who gets captured by insurgents but then ends up building a suit of armor and vowing to protect the world. The film has grossed $222.4 million domestic.
The number three spot went to 'What Happens in Vegas,' a romantic comedy starring ASHTON KUTCHER and CAMERON DIAZ, which made $13.9 million.
Warner Bros' 'Speed Racer,' with a whopping $120 million budget, dropped to fourth place, bringing in an estimated $7.6 million for the weekend period, for a total gross of 24.3 million.
In the number five spot with $4.6 million was 'Baby Mama,' the comedy starring TINA FEY as a successful businesswoman who hires an unlikely surrogate, played by AMY POEHLER, to have her baby.
