I'm going to tell you right now, there is, in my opinion, absolutely nothing even remotely close to newsworthy about this story. I mean, the Spice Girls were basically just proto-Pussycat Dolls with more clothing and sappier lyrics, so the news that Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham will join their ranks, even temporarily, really warrants nothing more than a big fat yawn. If anything's newsworthy about this story, it's that Posh hasn't already muscled lead singer Nicole-what's-her-face from the front spot and taken over entirely.
From the San Francisco Chronicle:
Pussycat Dolls spokeswoman Alisa Boushey has confirmed the singer will be taking to the stage at the Caesar's Palace Hotel & Casino in June.
She tells British magazine Heat, "Victoria's been in talks with the Dolls for some time and will be joining them onstage.
"She would have done it sooner, but it's a question of her busy schedule. But it will be happening very soon."
Posh has a schedule? For what? Appearances at Kitson? Issuing soundbites about her husband's peen? Since she bailed on the Spice Tour, she hasn't really done much except pose for freaky Marc Jacobs ads and hang around with Eva Longoria. She must be itching to take her clothes off and pretend to sing. A girl gets addicted to that shiz, yanno?
I'll bet that she's had calls in to PD founder Robin Antin since she landed in LA two years ago. Stripper gear and lip-synching? Posh has a PhD in both. This is her dream job. I'm just surprised that she didn't land it sooner.
