The Cost of Britney's Year of Living Dangerously: $61 Million
So there's been a lot of rumbling and speculation for awhile now about Britney's financial situation, with reports ranging from her being near-bankrupt to STILL managing to pull in close to seven figures a month thanks to past deals and perfume sales, but In Touch claims to know that Britney officially blew through $61 million during her year of literal and figurative insanity.
61 million dollars. That's like, what? 20 tanks of gas and four trips to Rite-Aid these days?
In addition to the enormous tab for legal bills, rehab and psychiatric care, Britney’s inability to work has cost her a fortune. “By not touring for her last album [Blackout], she lost out on $50 million,” estimates Robert Bianchi, an LA-based CPA who isn’t an accountant for Britney. Jamie hired his own accountants to sort out the money mess and bring an end to the 26-year-old’s excessive spending. “It’s been quite a challenge getting things under control,” the insider says. Luckily, as Britney’s mental health improves, so does her bottom line. “She’s spending about a fifth of what she used to,” the insider adds.
Despite spending nothing on personal security or management and cutting out all but one or two of the freeloaders out of her life, big damage was done to her fortune.
Britney bought multiple Mercedes in the past year and moved several times -- plunking down millions and millions for mansions she never lived in, renting (and allegedly trashing) another home for $35,000 a month but still spending every night at the Four Seasons. And apparently it costs a LOT to dress as well as Ms. Spears.
I was wondering why Brit and her new management seem so keen on landing a Bally's endorsement deal (the photo above is just one of the ZILLION recent ones of her conspicuously leaving a workout there) -- it still feels kind of low-rent for her, but I guess if the situation is really that messy they're just in a hurry to ramp up an income stream of ANY kind.
I also wonder, perhaps, if this kind of naked, disgusting excess and waste is the reason we are all so currently fascinated with the do-gooder celebs, attention-grubbing famewhoriness aside.

Do you think Britney should be allowed custody of her sons?

It only money, dirty pieces of paper!
