Miley Cyrus Changes Her Name; Still Set for Disney Games Amid Photo Scandal
The pop starlet, who's embroiled in a suggestive-photo scandal so big that even Bill O'Relly has gotten involved, has "Destiny Hope Cyrus" on her birth certificate. But now Hannah Montana has yup, Miley Ray Cyrus. Shocker!
The Miley Cyrus controversy, which was stoked after a new batch of suggestive pics were featured in Vanity Fair, continues to make headlines. The singer hasn't commented much on "Mileygate," save when she said on Sunday that she was "embarrassed."
"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy," she said. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with [photographer] Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."
Cyrus made her first public appearance since the scandal when she was spotted shopping at a Target store in Nashville, according to UsMagazine.com. She reportedly said "Good, thank you," when asked how she was doing amid the controversy.
According to People.com, Miley Cyrus is still scheduled to perform at the 2008 Disney Channel Games on Saturday, though her performance won't be televised until July, when her next, yet-untled album is due.
Cyrus' brother Trace didn't have much to say when asked for comment in a video on TMZ.com. "I don't know anything about it, really," he deferred.
If what he's saying is true, Trace is probably one of the few people who don't know about "Mileygate." Nielsen BuzzMetrics, which measures blog traffic, reported a 150 percent spike in discussion about her album Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert between Sunday and Tuesday, according to Billboard.
