Star Jones on Barbara Walters and the Sad Day
Kelly told you about Barbara Walters's Tuesday appearance on Oprah, during which she talked a bunch of smack about everyone on Earth, or at least on The View. Yesterday, Star Jones dished it back via Us Magazine.
Barbara told Oprah that after Star's gastric bypass surgery, she made the rest of the View ladies stick to a story about her losing weight by way of diet and exercise (pshaw, as if THAT ever worked). She also told Oprah about her decades-ago affair with Edward Burke. Unimpressed Star is unimpressed:
It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character.
Ha! "Sunset of her life," even. Star can really do passive aggression like it's her job. I agree with her on the Burke issue. It's pretty nasty to reveal their affair at this late stage. What is the point of that exactly, if not to sell books? The whole world didn't need to know about which married dude Baba boinked before most people reading this were born, and I'd venture that many of us really didn't WANT to know, either. But as for "speaking negatively against" Star, meh. Star's talked her share of stuff, too, so I'm not feeling terribly sorry for her. Plus I think it's sucky when celebrities go under the knife to get skinny and then pretend it was all a matter of their own fierce willpower, so I'm not going to hate on Barbara for talking about that bit of shenaniganery, either.
