Wino is Free!
London police released Amy Winehouse yesterday after formally arresting her in connection with a videotape that allegedly showed the singer smoking crack. Amy was released on bail at 10:30 pm last night, after spending eight hours in the pokey.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said the singer was taken into custody ‘in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22′.
Winehouse’s spokesperson released the following statement to U.S. website People.com: “Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment.
“She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year.”
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Around 1pm today a 24-year-old woman from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug.
“She remains in custody. This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22.”
The arrest didn’t seem to bother Amy: photographers snapped her roaming the streets around 4am this morning. Amy didn’t mention the arrest, and instead focused on hitting up a local convenience store, where she purchased magazines and soda. On her way back to her flat, Amy asked the trailing paparazzi if they had an opinion on what her next tattoo should be.
