Whitney Thompson wins America’s Next Top Model

Whitney Thompson crowned America’s Next Top Model for Cycle 10 last night. She’s a 20-year old student from Florida, the first plus-sized (or, full-figured) poser to make the top-rated CW series’ final three, let alone win!

“There’s definitely times I’ve looked in the mirror and looked at other girls and thought, I wasn’t like them,” [Whitney]the 20-year-old from Atlantic Beach, Fla., said after learning she had beat out her high-fashion-ready co-finalist, Anya Kop, for all the spoils.

Per usual, Thompson will be getting a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics and representation from Elite Model Management.

  • Yes, it was rigged. She was criticized every week for that weird fake quality she had. I'm so bored with Tyra's agenda. First, ah Latina must win, then a Tyra camp graduate must, now a full-figured model. It's totally lame. No issues with either girl, but I just don't believe in the legitimacy of the show anymore.

  • "...It is interesting to know that it's apparently little more than a staged farce all for the sake of justifying Banks' disingenuous "Work it girl! I'm every woman!" pretext while she hypocritically relies on tons of makeup, all manner of wigs and slimming camera lenses." - Submitted by Gry on DLister. Eloqeunt, poignant, & a he took the words right out of my mouth.
