Dear Academy: Dont Give Heath Ledger A Posthumas Award

I have nothing against Heath Ledger. I am not really pro Heath Ledger. But, the fact remains that the Hollywood is pushing for Heath Ledger to get an Academy Award nod for his portrayal of “The Joker” in “The Dark Knight.” Photo Still From The Dark Knight I think this is total B. S. Heath was an actor. A simple male actor. Talented, nonetheless, but let the man be. Mourn, if you must, Hollywood, but don’t give the man an Academy Award. Here’s some of the buzz surrounding this topic: The recent death of Heath Ledger is no different, and with the impending release of his final film, The Dark Knight, on July 18, his costars, director, and industry insiders are all suspecting Ledgers turn as the Joker in the latest Batman installment may earn him a posthumous Oscar. “Heath had this frequency none of us could hear,” says costar Gary Oldman. “The Academy tends to overlook movies like this, but this acting is so good it’s going to be very hard for them to avoid it.” Earth to Gary Oldman… Was the acting that good? Disneys First Black Princess Movie Ideas Leads To Race Issues

Final Drawing The Frog Princess [She So Ghetto blog Funny, there’s a good supply of information about us in the USA from the U.K. Apparently Disney is finally coming out with an African-American animated princess film. For those who tried to keep buying the Princess Jasmine dolls because she was the darkest and most multi-cultural looking, there is hope. But, as with most issues of race, the critics of Disney’s cartoon movies are rearing their heads about the topic of this cartoon film. Would a Disney movie that involves a black female character embroiled in a good-vs-evil plot regarding voodoo and being a “slave” of sorts to a prissy white Disney character be inflammatory? This topic is no exception to the continuing arguments over race and positive imagery of black women. According to www.telegraph.co.uk: “]”] Originally called The Frog Princess, its heroine was to be a chambermaid called Maddy working for a spoiled, white debutante in 1920s New Orleans. But it sparked a backlash from critics who claimed it reinforced prejudice and demeaned black people. As a result the title of the musical, which has yet to be released, was changed to The Princess and The Frog and the princess will now be called Tiana. Among the concerns were the New Orleans setting, the portrayal of voodoo and the overtones of slavery. One of the film’s staunchest critics was William Blackburn, a columnist for the Charlotte Observer in North Carolina. “Disney should be ashamed of what it is trying to pass off as its first black princess,” he said.”Despite all its resources and experience, it has failed to create a black princess to rival its predecessors. “For one, this princess’ story is set in New Orleans, the setting of one of the most devastating tragedies to beset a black community. And then they throw in the voodoo theme and an alligator sidekick. When you put New Orleans, alligators and voodoo together, there’s no beauty there.” He added that Maddy sounded too similar to Mammy, a name synonymous with the segregated Deep South. Rodney Hinds, features editor of The Voice newspaper, said: “We are talking about a big company who has had to go back to the drawing board. It’s disappointing… Some of the stereotyping of people from our community is still rigid in people’s minds. We have our own dreams and stories like everyone else, and we want them to be portrayed positively.” Following the rewrite the heroine has been recast as Tiana who is destined to live happily ever after with a dashing character expected to be of Middle Eastern heritage. The race of the villain is also reported to have been revised. A spokesman for Disney said: “The story takes place in the charming elegance and grandeur of New Orleans’ fabled French Quarter during the Jazz Age… Princess Tiana will be a heroine in the great tradition of Disney’s rich animated fairy tale legacy, and all other characters and aspects of the story will be treated with the greatest respect and sensitivity.”- “]”] The original Princess Tiana (below) had to be rewritten and seems to have been redrawn.” Princess Tiana Disney”

THE N-WORD’S Funeral: On Monday, July 9, 2007, during its 98th Annual National Convention in Detroit, Michigan, the NAACP will conduct a mock funeral to bury the N-Word. Delegates and supporters of America’s largest, most respected, oldest, and most effective civil rights organization will convene at Cobo Hall for a march led by the casket containing the N-Word to Hart Plaza where there will be a funeral service for the most vicious of all racist insults – the N-Word! Black people need to quit. I am serious. If you buried the word, why ressurect it? If you put the word in the casket, why unearth it? We need to put our foot down and stop this “N*gger” crap. I simply mean stop using the friggin’ word. You cannot defend the word. It is an ignorant word, literally, and no person in this culture should use it. No matter what their race. What About Comedy? Now, I think back to Richard Pryor and how he used the “N” word in his comedy. I would say he used it… well, it was just about every other word. What do I say to that? Would I say, “It’s alright for Richard Pryor [and other hardcore comedians] to use the “N” word and not everyone else?” Richard Pryor [and other hardcore comedians]are paid for their risque points of view. They are paid to elaborate, in jest, about words, actions and lifestyles of stereotypes and the like. Gays, Sex, Hispanics, Asians, Blacks…as far as I see in most comedy, no topic is off limits. I am not a comedian, but this seems to be their running theme. Richard Pryor [and other hardcore comedians] routines certainly are not for the general public. You have a choice and have probabaly paid for that choice, whether in cash or with your morality. REV. JESSE JACKSON If you didn’t read my previous post about Jesse Jackson and public speaking, you can check it out here, but my thought run down the same river…He should have known better. What happened to Jesse Jackson is what happens when you don’t watch your back. You know that Fox News is repeatedly given the reputation of “unfair and unbalanced” by others in the media. They report news like the your famous nosey neighbor, who sees all, with a juicy tidbit about how the other neighbor brought home a new dog. There is footage and audio, too. Rev. Jackson spoke out against using the “N” word in public. How “public” is doing Fox News? As Rev Al Sharpton explained, you must be consistant. Don’t tell others the stop using the “N” word, if you can’t stop using the word. Here’s a new clip regarding Rev. Jesse Jackson and his “N” word slip-up. THE VIEW: WHOOPI GOLDBERG & SHERRI SAY THE “N” WORD- I SAY “BOO ON YOU” I can ususally say with certainty that Whoopi and Sherri and I share some of the same views. I usually do not side with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Well, the times, they are a changin’. In this clip of Elisabeth Hasselbeck verbal sparring with Whoopi and Sherri, I am in Elisabeth’s corner. You can’t say the “N” word and tell other races that they can’t say it unless you like talking out of both sides of your mouth…and your butt. When Miss America Falls, She Applauds!

During the evening wear portion of the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant in Vietnam, Miss USA Crystle Stewart of Texas took a tumble. Stewart tripped on the train of her gown, becoming the second Miss USA in a row to fall down during the competition. Last year, Miss USA Rachel Smith also fell down during the evening wear competition. - Via Ooops, Miss America must remember that she isn’t there to be human, she’s there to be a lovely poised doll from an unreal universe. For me personally, I don’t think that Miss America’s booty flop was a big deal. I mean, fine she fell. That’s the way I look at it. My sister competed in many pageants, including Miss Ohio. She does not share this view. On the other hand, in the pageant arena, falling is sudden death. This is the pageant girls’ life. Perfection, by any means necessary. They want that damn crown! Perfection means perfection! Pageants are highly charged competitions loaded with estrogen-filled, dieting girls that are poked, prodded and painfully plucked to become some fantasy pinnacle of a woman. These girl do nothing by accident and attend these competitions after having shelled out tons of pageant dues and they come with every fanatical desire to win and become “Miss Whatever”, so if you are going to compete to win…It’s simple! Don’t fall.

3 Lessons In Public Speaking With Jesse Jackson

You know, it took a while for me to make a comment about Rev. Jesse Jackson and his comments regarding Barack Obama because I had to close my own mouth. I mean, my jaw dropped and it’s been hanging open for a couple of days. I am still reeling at how the pirate ship crew-like media, with Bill O’Rielly at as Cap’t Jack Sparrow exposing the mates to what the villainous and black-hearted (literally) Rev. named Jesse Jackson said. Arrrggghhh! I personally think that there may be a wee-bit of jealousy about how far Sen. Barack Obama has come on the coat tails of what Rev. Jesse Jackson attempted to do in the 1980’s. Rev. Jackson was well on his way to becoming a democratic presidential nominee, just like Obama and I just believe it just wasn’t in Rev. Jackson’s political “crystal ball”, so to speak. What I do know, is that Rev. Jackson is a political forefather to Barack Obama and should be proud that he paved the way for another person with an African-American/ Multi-cultural heritage to now pave the way. Jealousy should never be involved, yet he’s only human. I have just three simple lesson about public speaking. Take them for what they are worth. But, believe me, they are true even if you don’t follow them, Like Jesse Jackson did not and now he pays for it with his reputation. 1. IN THE POLITICAL ARENA- NEVER EXPRESS YOUR PERSONAL OPINIONS IN PUBLIC: Aside from making statements about political matters, MY GOODNESS, how could you not realize that if you are a public figure of any sort, your personal opinions do not matter and can be harmful to your reputation. Let’s look at Tom Cruise. He was, and I mean was, the hottest “white boy” in film for a while. Everything he touched turned to gold. He was a Midas. Then, he started talking about his religion… and becoming more open about his personal religious beliefs and then became what looked to be fanatical about his religion. Phew! They say that you should not talk about religion and politics unless you want to start an argument. I agree. Back to Rev. Jesse Jackson, his personal opinions are destroying him in the media. Can you say “caught on tape”? I mean, my goodness. What the hell was he thinking? He was right in front of the camera, with a mic on and he waited until then to say his ‘little piece”? Just hand over your “balls” Mr. Jackson. 2. NEVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING IN FRONT OF A CAMERA, UNLESS YOU WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW ABOUT IT: I am not going to buy this “I thought the” mic-was-off/ camera-was off “bull”. You are responsible for what comes out of your mouth. Don’t believe the apology! What Rev. Jesse Jackson said is what he really felt, but if that’s what he felt, then he should stay on that side of the fence. Don’t support in public and be a hater in private. And, in Rev. Jesse Jackson’s defense, if he disagrees with some of Obama’s policies then it’s his right to disagree. And that’s fine! it’s just not right to want to cut off Barack Obama’s “N**ts” Off. 3. THE MEDIA IS A “ONE WAY” STREET- BACK PEDALING IS NOT PERMITTED: It’s so hard for anyone that has been caught on tape doing or saying something to go and try to clean up what they said. Popular attempts to try to clean-up words are: “What I meant to say was…” “Actually, the comment was about [blank] and not [blank]“ “I do not recall saying those words…” “I’ll plead the fifth…” or “I was on medication and didn’t know what I was saying” “I was wasted, did I say that?” Just ask Mel Gibson about that one… The point is, folks, Pay attention. Watch what’s going on around you. Watch what you are saying and who is listening to you. It’s like this. Big Brother is always watching and sometimes “Big Brother” can be an even bigger bitch! The news clip below was about the best for me. They clearly saw this Rev. Jesse Jackson Vs. Obama issue the same way I did. Check it!

Vogue Italia Magazines Black Models Only Issue

The July issue of Vogue Italia features only black models has sparked controversy in both the fashion industry and popular culture. Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, created the ???black issue??? to draw attention to the lack of black models used in the fashion industry. The issue features over 100 pages of prominent black models such as Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, and Tyra Banks. This isn???t the first time Vogue has sparked racial controversy but, to Vogue???s credit, the controversies trigger discussion, which is always a good thing… Is it such a bad thing??? All black models in a magazine that usually doesn’t quite focus on black models. I won’t say just african-american, as I would suspect that there are black models from all over the globe gracing each page. I say, “Well, it’s about friggin’ time!”?? It’s not about race to me, at least in a negative way.?? I am totally for a multi-cultural magazine, but if they want to focus on Black Women in this issue, then why not! If they want to focus on Latina women??or Asian women??in another issue…more power to them. We don’t have enough fabulous images of black women.?? I cannot stress this enough!?? We see ghetto, silly acting girls and women, some are shown here as an example of what NOT to do. Here we can see poise, beauty and elegance that is not flashy or overbearingly gawdy. I think it’s wonderful, lead by example Vogue Italia!?? I just wish it was American Vogue. Viva Vogue Italia!!! In the book, Elisabeth talks about her life changing excursion to Italy and eating loads of pasta, gaining weight and feeling fine.?? That’s because pasta is a carbohydrate that causes a calming feeling. ??Hey, this is not an endorsement of “her” book, but it looks like Oprah Winfrey??is following some similar footsteps that are mentioned in the book. Namely, EATING and EATING IN ITALY! According to DailyMail.co.uk, Media Queen Oprah is on holiday in Italy and is packing on the “happy flab”.?? “Happy flab” is what you get when you eat and gain and are just happy, regardless. Oprah, in non-slimming??white, chug-chug-chugs down what looks to be a margarita glass of beer with a big head.?? What ever she’s drinking, she’s loving it! Dear Tom Cruise, Your Back Fat Is Showing!

Back Fat is unsightly.?? How do I know??? Because this summer, I have relaxed a bit from my yoga.?? I have enjoyed my summer sherberts and other treats and I have paid for it. Because when I recently tried on this new bikini top, I saw it… I saw my “back fat”! Drat! Well, I am not a star [yet].?? Not a celebrity [well, almost] that has to totally watch her figure.?? I do a little Oprah when it comes to my weight.?? At least the way Oprah is right now…holding steady. Really, I am comfy with my weight, it’s just that I need to tone up the…dare I say…”flab”! And, so does Tom Cruise.?? But, let’s look at reality here. Tom has access to the best personal trainers and body builders out there… I have access to my DVD player… Tom Cruise can have delicious low-cal, low fat, high protien, body fortifying foods made for him…. I drink soy milk…at least. So, let’s just say that Tom Cruise has no excuse to have “back fat”.?? I, on the other hand, have had kids… Wait, that’s not a good excuse, is it??? Here’s an interesting comparison of our favorite foods at our favorite fast food restaurants. Which do you think looks the closest to the “model” food? I thought Subway was a close one. The KFC stuff looks the grossest…If I can use that word for KFC’s “Grossest” looking food. The real Taco Bell looks yucky compared to the “model” food. Even though this is one of my fave foods at Taco Bell. That Big Mac looks whacked! That breakfast sandwich looks like “sloppy queen” instead of Burger King. I could eat a tub of this tartar sauce, but I would pass on the “fish slop-wich”. KFC or Doggie Kibbles? You decide! ehhh?! This looks like it’ll start some gas for you! There will “bean” gas! WTF??? This is just an exercise to show that exploitation of women, whether voluntary or involuntary is dumb. Yeah, they “model” for the money. They show off their flat abs and bubble booties for fame, but in the end, literally, there is not enough botox to keep it all up. You’ll be a “has been” and for what? Educate your mind, ladies. Leave behind a legacy that says more than “I was a T & A model once.” Wouldn’t you rather say, “I helped save the lives of disadvantaged children” or “I volunteered to read stories to children with cancer”? Spare me the “you’re just jealous” comments. Oh, please. I would be more embarrassed having to explain to my children one day that I was a “T & A” model. Just ask Jamie Lee Curtis, who recently said that she had never done any sort of nudity anywhere, because now she has to cope with explaining it all to her kids. Anyhoo… Here’s a little test. Which pictures are NOT Kim Kardashian? It just goes to show, to all the Kim Kardashian hoochies, you’re a dime a dozen.
