Paris Hilton Insults Kim Kardashian

Paris Hilton must think her Twiggy frame is the end-all be-all. This week, on a Las Vegas radio show, she dissed her former BFF, Kim Kardashian’s coveted gluteus maximus and insisted she’d never swap butts with the voluptuous former Playboy pin-up, saying, “I would not want [Kim’s butt] - it’s gross! It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.” Was she green when she made that comment, ‘cause it sounds like envy! Then, it must have dawned on the IQ wonder that she had been on the air, and Kim could have heard her. Perez Hilton helped her realize her mistake by posting the transcript on his website. Hilton immediately made a statement to “In Touch,” apologizing for her slip-up, “I was just joking around and I made a stupid joke. I felt really bad afterward, so I contacted Kim and apologized. It was a silly thing to say. Kim’s hot!” Reality TV star, Kim Kardashian replied in a smooth manner, ”Paris and I have been friends since we were kids, and I'm glad she made the effort to say she's sorry." Classic frenemies. With a friend like Paris, who needs an enemy? If Hilton is talk trashing about her friends on the radio, it’s no wonder she’s doing the reality show, “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF!”

NYU and Tom Cruise - thank you SuperNova

Students looking for an out-of-this-world study abroad experience will soon get the chance - literally. NYU in Space will "launch" beginning in fall 2009, President John Sexton announced with his hands raised to the heavens. This will be the university's first satellite campus on a satellite. It will be completely funded by the Church of Scientology, NYU spokesman John Beckman said in a joint news conference with actor Tom Cruise. The "NYU L. Ron Hubbard Center for the Study of the Universe" will be able to host nearly 200 former SPs each semester, with potential for expansion in the future. Sexton said the satellite campus represents not only one large step forward for the university, but a gigantic leap in his plan to upstage Columbia University president Lee Bollinger. "We've basically got Columbia in a Vulcan death grip," Sexton said. "Not even the Earth itself can contain NYU's growth. Being a 'global' university is soooooo 2005. We need to think bigger - we need to become a galactic university." One incentive for the move to space was the increasingly difficult task of finding space in the city, Sexton said. "I'm not going to be all John Beckman with you," he said. "Real estate in New York is a bitch." Courses will be offered through the Steinhardt School of Intergalactic Communication, the Courant Institute of Astrophysics and, naturally, Gallatin. In an interview with WSN, Cruise said he and his church were approached by Sexton almost two years ago. "When you're a Scientologist and you're asked to sponsor a study abroad site, you know you have to do something about it, because you know you're the only one who can really help," Cruise said. "WE are the way to happiness. WE can bring peace and unite cultures ... Oops, I mean ... I'm happy to be a part of this." Still, Tisch sophomore Anita Bohn said she was skeptical about spending a semester in space. "I heard the American Apparel there is really small," Bohn said. CAS junior Ben Dover, however, had more serious concerns. "I can't believe NYU would open another campus in a location that doesn't protect gay rights," he said. Gallatin freshman David Rubensteinowitz was worried about the accomodations made for his religious observances. "What if the moon cheese isn't kosher?" Rubensteinowitz wondered. "What if the bobby pins on my yarmulke don't work in space?"

Simpson Denies 'SNL' Ban

Ashlee Simpson has denied reports she has been banned from appearing on "Saturday Night Live." The star was left red-faced after she was caught lip-syncing during a performance on the show in 2004, but reports claim the singer was eager to make a return to the series to promote her new album, "Bittersweet World." Sources tell the New York Post's Page Six column Simpson was "a pain" during her time on "Saturday Night Live," and that the show's producers were reluctant to have her back. However, Simpson's publicist insists she won't be appearing on the show due to conflicting schedules. A representative for the star says, "We're not doing 'SNL' because they're dark the week we are here in April and there were no other opportunities later in the year."

Jennifer Lopez names twins Emme and Max

LOS ANGELES (Reuters Life!) - Movie and recording star Jennifer Lopez and her husband, salsa singer Marc Anthony, have named their newborn twins Max and Emme, her manager told People magazine's Web site on Friday. The brother and sister -- the first children born to the 38-year-old actress -- were delivered about 10 minutes apart last Friday at a Long Island hospital. Emme, weighing 5.7 pounds (2.6 kg), arrived first at about 12 minutes past midnight, and Max was born at 12:23 a.m., tipping the scales at 6 pounds even (2.7 kg), Lopez's manager, Simon Fields, confirmed to People.com. Lopez and Anthony, who has a daughter and two sons from two previous relationships, married in 2004. It is her third marriage. The couple starred together last year in "El Cantante," a film about salsa legend Hector Lavoe.

In 2004, Carmen Kass was elected President of the Estonian Chess Federation, and is spearheading her country's bid to stage the Chess Olympiad in 2008. This was formally announced by Kass at the press conference of the Mainz Chess Classic 2004 – to the chagrin of the German Chess Federation, since the city of Dresden is also bidding for the Olympiad in the same year!
