Jonas Brothers Kick Off

The Jonas Brothers celebrated Independence Day by kicking off the North American leg of their ‘Burnin’ Up’ tour at the Molson Amphitheatre on Friday, July 4th, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band of brothers’ ‘Camp Rock’ co-star Demi Lovato opened up the show for them with their fellow Disney channel star Selena Gomez supporting them. As part of the tour, Demi will be making her first in-person appearance at a Verizon Wireless in Dallas, Texas on July 9th at 2 in the afternoon. If anyone has any info about the kick off, like a review or something, let me know. I want to know what went down. Let Jonas mania run wild!

Keith Urban: Soon to be Daddy

Keith Urban is so excited about being a daddy soon that he’s talking about it at his concerts. He and wife Nicole Kidman are expecting their first child together any day now. As he performed in Nashville with pal Kenny Chesney, he got set to sing “Better Half”. Keith said, “I’m going to dedicate this song to my very, very, very, very, VERY pregnant wife.” This is gonna be one cute baby….watch out Brangelina, you have competition!

Shakira Nation

Another artist is about to join Live Nation and that artist comes in the form of Shakira. The Latin sensation is said to be close to signing a contract wit the concert promoters which includes recording, touring and merchandising. The deal is said to be a multi-million dollar deal that should be finalized before the year comes to an end. Some reports are saying that she’s going to get anywhere between a $70 million to a $90 million deal. Live Nation and Shakira have worked together before when the corporation handled the US leg of her ‘Oral Fixation’ tour last year. They made a good investment on that as it was said that the tour made over $100 million.

Britney Spears Music in 09

Super producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins has teamed up with Britney Spears once again for her new album for the first time in seven years. As late as four weeks ago, the recovering starlet and the producer were in the studio making some tracks for Britney’s as yet untitled sixth studio album, which is scheduled for an early 2009 release. Jerkins said “I’m trying to reinvent her and myself. [The new sound is] very dance-y, really up tempo, in the clubs, real aggressive, and catchy.” It sounds like the Britney Spears of the golden days is being brought back. Here’s to hoping that it’s a successful attempt.

Lily Allen to quit music

Lily Allen has announced she may quit music. The 23-year-old singer revealed she will give up singing if her eagerly-anticipated second album, tentatively titled ‘Stuck on the Naughty Step’, is a flop. Lily recently put the finishing touches to the follow up to 2006’s ‘Alright, Still’, and fears she “got away with something” because of the huge success of her first album. The ‘Littlest Things’ singer said: “I left school at 15. I’m not a genius songwriter. I don’t think I’m really good at anything. I’m really scared about what people are going to say. I don’t know why. Some people will like it and some won’t. If people hate it, then I’ll just try something else.” Lily said that if she does quit singing she would like to work behind the scenes role in the music industry, adding: “I’d really like to do A+R at a record company.” Last month, Lily was in Los Angeles working on the album with producer Greg Kurstin, who produced two tracks on ‘Alright, Still’. She revealed possible song titles include ‘Everyone’s at it’ and ‘He Wasn’t There’. Lily has also previewed possible tracks to be included on the LP on her MySpace internet page, including ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Guess Who Batman’. It was rumored earlier this week that Lily was set to record a duet with Lindsay Lohan. The album is due for release next year.

Amy Winehouse Hates Kanye

Wow….what is her deal? I mean, she’s the freakin’ cokehead but she wants to drag other folks into her crap. Seems Amy’s concert this weekend was pretty exciting. Besides attacking a fan, she also attacked another celeb, for no reason apparently. As she sang, she ad libbed some love to her jailed up hubby Blake. Then, as she performed Unholy War, she said, “I’m not opening for a c*** like Kanye.” What? Who knew she had beef with him? Kanye’s response to Amy? He blogged about it, saying, “THIS JUST IN…AMY WINEHOUSE HATES ME!!! NOW I’VE REALLY MADE IT!!! LOL!!!”

Chantal Kreviazuk Gives Birth

Congratulations are well in order for Chantal Kreviazuk as the very talented Canadian singer and songwriter gave birth to a beautiful bouncing baby boy at 4:48 AM on June 28th, Saturday. Look at the cheeks on the little one! I just want to pinch them. The newest addition to her family has been given the name Salvador Daniel Maida. The dad is super hot musician Raine Maida. Salvador is the third child for the couple. They have two other children, both boys as well named Rowan and Lucca. Chantal says “He is healthy and adorable. I’m trying not to eat him up! Infants are just miraculous.” They truly are.

Singer and songwriter Kate Voegele appeared at a Verizon Wireless store to sign autographs on Wednesday in New York City. She was joined by Natasha Bedingfield and the Veronicas, for whom she’s opening for on tour. The 21-year old Kate was recently spotlighted by Entertainment Weekly as being the best of “the new golden age of female singer-songwriters” while Billboard has hailed her as “An Artist to Watch in ‘08”. The experts are already saying that we’re going to fall in love with Kate this year and after hearing her songs, I’m not doubting them. Kate is definitely going to be big.

R&B style queen Rihanna sat next to her unofficial boy Chris Brown during the 2008 BET Awards which was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Rihanna arrived at the awards ceremony in style, wearing an eye-catching yellow Giambattista Valli dress. Apart from grabbing a couple awards, Rihanna also performed her latest single ‘Take a Bow’. If you still don’t know what Rihanna’s new should tattoo means, it’s “IV. LXXXVI”, which is the Roman numeral for 4.86, the date of birth of her best friend. Apparently this best friend of hers is “closer than people from her own family’.”

Katy Perry is Number 1

Katy Perry has dethroned Coldplay to take over the spot for the number one song in America. According to Billboard, her infectious ‘I Kissed a Girl’ bumped Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ at the top of the US singles chart. The song has already been #1 in Canada and is likely to follow suit in other countries once it’s released in Europe in the late summer or early fall. Industry experts have said that Katy should be able to hold on to the top spot for a bit too as her song continues to sell well and is getting tons of airplay. Katy’s debut album ‘One of the Boys’ has also debuted on the Top 10 of the Billboard charts this week. Congratulations!

Amy Winehouse Performs at Mandela Bash

Woo hoo…after days in the hospital, Amy Winehouse hit the stage Friday in London and performed at a concert for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday party. She sang “Rehab” and “Valerie”, and the crowds cheered. Those around sid that she looked healthy, even though she’d been in the hospital. I’m still not sure why Amy Winehouse performed at his party, but whatever…..

Camp Rock Trumps HSM

The Disney Channel’s new Jonas Brothers movie ‘Camp Rock’ debuted to a huge audience on Friday night. The made for TV movie averaged a total of 8.9 million viewers at 8-10 PM which made it the cable network’s second most watched original movie ever. ‘Camp Rock’ came behind ‘High School Musical 2’ with 17.2 million. However, the Jonas’ movie did trump the original ‘High School Musical’ which only debuted to 7.7 million viewers back in January 2006. ‘Camp Rock’ may be getting slammed by reviewers but they didn’t do a shabby job at attracting an audience. I’m pretty sure this will lead to a ‘Camp Rock 2’. Darned capitalists!

Vegas Twist on Britney Spears Album

Britney Spears is reportedly working on a new album and there’s a Las Vegas twist on it as it is being said that Vegas kingpin George Maloof is behind it. Sources say that the album is being recorded at Maloof’s Palms Casion in Las Vegas and that former manager Larry Rudolph, who’s been back in the picture for a while, is producing the album. Maloof is trying his best to extend his arm into the music industry and is also behind Ali Lohan’s upcoming album. If he really wants to be part of the industry, supporting those two acts isn’t really the right way to do it.

Tim McGraw Sends Em Home

The cowboy doesn’t like ‘em rowdy. And he doesn’t like when men are mean to women either. He proved both at a concert in Auburn, Washington. As he sang “Indian Outlaw”, a bit of chaos broke out near the front. Apparently Tim saw an aggressive male fan hit a female fan, and Tim didn’t take took kindly to that. He yelled, “Get rid of this guy! Security!” But security didn’t move fast enough for Tim, so he grabbed the guy, pulled him on stage, and held him until they could get him. Needless to say, he was escorted from the concert.

Michelle Branchs New Hangout

Michelle Branch is taking a break from her music career so you’re not going to be able to find her hanging out at any recording studios but according to new reports, the country singer now has a new place to hang out in the form of a bakery called The Sugar Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. Michelle says that it’s an old-fashioned bakeshop and bar where you can grab a drink and a slice of Bourbon Chocolate Cake after dinner. She goes on to say “Besides music, one of my dreams has always been to open a bakery.” Her business is also local friendly as she plans to support local farmers by using their butter, milk, eggs and fruit.

Charlotte Church is Pregnant Again

Pop singer Charlotte Church and rugby player Gavin Henson just announced that they’re expecting another baby. Charlotte’s official website announced “Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson are delighted to announce that they are expecting another baby. The couple are thrilled, as are their immediate families. Meanwhile, Charlotte has confirmed that she will fulfill her commitment to Channel 4 to present the third [season] of ‘The Charlotte Church Show’ in July and August of this year.” Congratulations to the Church-Henson family. Their first child just turned 9 months on Friday. Hopefully, Charlotte will have a son this time so she can have one of each and not have to get pregnant anytime soon after.

Celine Dion Gets Diva on House

Celine Dion is getting on her architect for not knowing much about geometry. The singer hired Florida architect Randall Stofft in 2005 to build her a $3 million Jupiter Island home complete with an octagonal living room. Stofft saw it differently and Celine said he refused to build the house she wanted. According to the Palm Beach Post, the house is still unfinished up to now which is why Celine has filed suit asking for a quarter million in damages. It’s one of those cases where the customer is always right. Heck, he’s going to be paid regardless if Celine’s vision was a mess. It was her idea that she’s paying for anyway. He should have just followed orders if you ask me.

Sara Evans Gets Hitched

People is reporting that country signer Sara Evans scored a touch down last weekend when she married the former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker in a small outdoor ceremony that I’m pretty sure no one really cares about. The wedding party was made up of the couple’s seven children and 130 of their close family and friends as witnesses to the occasion. The couple met when they were both seeking spiritual counseling from a minister after their first marriages ended in divorce. Let’s hope this one works or they might end up fighting over who gets to go to that minister.
